Atal Setu Bridge Contractors and Project Costs
The project brought together over 14,000 skilled workers from below given key companies to collaborate and incorporate cutting-edge technological features into this monumental achievement.
Larsen and Toubro (L&T) and IHI Corporation secured the contract for the 10.38 km sea bridge section, Tata Projects Limited and Daewoo E&C for the 7.807 km section, and L&T for the 3.613 km viaduct section. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 17,843 crore (USD 2.2 billion).
With construction that began in 2016, Atal Setu now stands as the 12th longest sea bridge globally.

As the lead contractor, L&T played a pivotal role in managing the entire project, from design and engineering to construction and commissioning. They were responsible for building the central sea section of the bridge, including the iconic pylons and cables.

Tata Projects
Another major player, Tata Projects, was responsible for constructing the land approaches on both sides of the bridge, including the toll plazas and interchanges. They also contributed to the construction of the central sea section.
Japan’s IHI Corporation
This renowned infrastructure company brought its expertise in marine engineering to the project, specializing in the fabrication and installation of the massive steel caissons that form the foundation of the bridge in the deep waters.
Daewoo Engineering & Construction
The Korean giant Daewoo Engineering & Construction provided valuable support in the construction of the bridge’s superstructure, particularly the pre-cast concrete segments that form the bridge’s deck.
Strabarg Infrastructure of Austria
This Austrian infrastructure specialist offered their expertise in advanced bridge construction techniques, particularly in the complex cable-stayed section of the bridge.
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA)
As the nodal agency for infrastructure development in the Mumbai region, MMRDA played a crucial role in planning, financing, and overseeing the construction of the Atal Setu Bridge.
